All wool supplied into the NewMerino® chain of custody comes from growers known as ‘Preferred Producers’.

All ‘Preferred Producers’ must be known to the supply chain manager and trusted as suppliers meeting all specifications and quality standards. They must demonstrate that their farms are managed in a sustainable and holistic manner.

Knowledge about individual suppliers enables knitters and garment makers to build marketing ‘stories’ for their garments and brands.

The wool supplied by ‘preferred producers’ has greater value because of its authenticity, predictability and traceability. These attributes are critically important to retailers and brand owners for the ability to market differentiated products.

To achieve ‘preferred producer’ status growers need to establish a profile of their farm and wool growing operation, forecast their production and work to NewMerino® procedures, declarations and audits.
