Non-mulesed wool supply

The following are the statistics for the availability of non-mulesed wool for the years 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.  Source: AWEX

Supply of non-mulesed wool (Categories CM and NM) have declined by 7% in 2012 over the previous year and now comprise 6.0% of total wool production.

Note: This does not include wool from sheep which have been mulesed with pain relief.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Australia produces 21,500 tons (greasy weight) or 14,000 tons (clean weight) of non-mulesed wool. This is equivalent to approximately:

75% of South African total merino production

122% of Argentinian total merino production

317% of New Zealand total merino production
