Non-mulesed wool supply

The following are the statistics for the availability of non-mulesed wool for the years 2009, 2010 and 2011.  Source: AWEX

Supply of non-mulesed wool (Categories CM and NM) have grown by 40% over the previous year and now comprise 6.2% of total production.

Note: This does not include wool from sheep which have been mulesed with pain relief.

Australia produces 23,000 tons (greasy weight) or 15,700 tons (clean weight) of non-mulesed wool. This is equivalent to

75% of South African total merino production

122% of Argentinian total merino production

317% of New Zealand total merino production
