NewMerino® has been working closely with the Textile Exchange Steering Committee, the Technical Group and the Advisory Group (of which we are a member) for the development of the Responsible Wool Standard.

The Responsible Wool Standard is being developed to protect the lives of sheep and the ecosystems they depend on. It is being developed by the Textile Exchange in conjunction with a number of major retail brands.

While NewMerino® has been offering verification and certification services for some years we are constantly reviewing and revising our system to reflect both current consumer sentiment and to ensure we are using the most relevant standards and Codes of Practice for both Animal Welfare and Land Management practices.

Our chain of custody system provides a fully traceable and transparent supply chain for Australian merino wool that conforms to the guidelines laid down by the RWS.

NewMerino® is not ‘in the supply chain’ in any processing or trading capacity. Consequently we can act as an independent facilitator on behalf of retail brands without any potential for conflict of interest.

In summary: NewMerino® operates as an accredited verification partner of the Textile Exchange to facilitate the implementation of these standards into the Australian merino production and supply system.
